Quick Update

Published by carl under Uncategorized

Greetings from the day job… lots of folks looking for an update. Everything is built, ready to ship. The big hurdle now is logistics and moving the product out the door as I work the same hours that the local post office is open.

Update 7/15

Published by carl under Uncategorized

As you know – this is NOT a full-time occupation. I build out orders in the order in which they are received and as I have time available away from my FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT and other life responsibilities. It takes 45 minutes with equipment that is well over 480*C and emits copious amounts of fumes to assemble ONE unit. Testing takes a few minutes on top of that, packaging and whatnot adds time too. So by the time all is said and done, every unit takes an HOUR from start to ship-ready.

No further orders are being taken. I am literally inundated with this current batch which ended up running over the 30-unit quota. If you were lucky enough to get an order in, you will receive an adapter as it is built.

This is the last batch.

…are not the place to ask where your order is!

Please email paypal@granite-embedded.com if this blurb of text isn’t enough meaningful assurance that I didn’t run off with your tens of dollars. I am stressed out, can’t handle this venture anymore… but still true to my word, you will receive an adapter.

AT1 Order Status

Published by carl under Uncategorized

Clearly there has been some concern over the ship date of any AT1s that were ordered in the last 4-6 weeks. While a ship date of July 1st was noted, there have been delays in procurement and assembly that I have not been very forthcoming about as I am trying to balance a full time job and this part time deal.

Units are in assembly now – half of the order is built and by the weekend, depending on how much time I can devote to this as each unit takes 45 minutes to assemble, I should begin testing and shipping next week.

Friendly Competition

Published by carl under Uncategorized

Elkparts has listed an AT1-like device on their site, even gave a shout out to GraniteEmbedded. Their device is about $200 USD from an unknown manufacturer (might be that guy on eBay that was selling a very overcomplicated and tricky-looking to install device a few months ago) with an unknown track record of reliability.

AT1s, and the device from which it was derived have been in Saab vehicles since 2007. While it was never destined for greatness as an iPod adapter, it sure makes one hell of an aux-in kit that takes minutes to install.

AT1 is returning soon, because frankly, there’s nobody else that can use all these harnesses, circuit boards and housings. The establishment of a new workshop has been stalled by a number of factors out of my control and as soon as this does happen, units will be manufactured once again.

When AT1 returns to the market – an introductory price of $65/kit plus shipping will be in place for the first 30 days! As soon as the new workshop is functional and all the tooling and quality control systems are in place, a definitive announcement regarding the on-sale date will be posted.

Thank you for your patience.

New Site

Published by carl under Uncategorized

So I got a call from a gentleman today with a 2003 9-5, wanting to know if I still sold adapters. Sure, in a few weeks when I’m settled in my new place and making things again, they will be. What baffled me was how he dug through the internet to find my information and call me on my personal cell phone. Turns out my old website had gone offline, so here is the new one! More info to follow.
